There was a heavy bombardment of the 6th Battalion trenches astride the Ypres-Comines canal (27-30S and R11) and the signallers monkey was injured.
The following men were either sick or wounded that day:-
- 1938 Pte William Mellors with rheumatism and was sent to the 23 General Hospital and then the 46 NMD rest station (a fetler from Chesterfield).
- Lieutenant Donald Storrs-Fox was wounded in the field and returned to England on 16.9.15 (from Bakewell and later served with RFC).
