Arrived in France in June 1915 and wounded on the 3rd June 19171915 Star awarded to Herbert Steeples
Herbert served overseas with the 1/6th Battalion after enlisting into the 2/6th Battalion in October 1914
Herbert arrived in France with the 1st (Reserve) Reinforcement in June 1915 and was posted to “B” Company of the 1/6th Battalion
Herbert was wounded on the 3rd June 1917 whilst the Battalion were holding front line trenches at Lievin. He returned to England and after his discharge from Hospital he was attached to 5th Reserve Battalion.
Herbert died on the 16th August 1918 due to ‘illness’ whilst in an isolation Hospital at Grimsby and he is buried at Grimsby (Scartho Road) Cemetery
Henry lived at Crosslow Bank Farm at Alsop-en-le-Dale near Parwich and is Commemorated on Parwich Village Memorial
