Attested aged 17 and an original member of “A” (Chesterfield) Company

Arrived in France with the 46th North Midland Division in February 1915

Returned to England in February 1916 as time expired. Re-enlisted and qualified as a plate layer in the Royal Engineers and returned to France. Later transferred to the 17th Sherwood Foresters and renumbered 73444.

Transferred back the 1/6th Battalion in September 1917 and killed in action on the 3rd September 1918 during the attack on Hunter’s Post
